Why Let Sleeping Dogs Lie Exists

When I first began working with dogs, I learned something quickly: most “problems” aren’t dog problems at all, they’re miscommunications between species. Dogs are simply being dogs. Humans? Well, we’re the ones who complicate things.

That’s why Let Sleeping Dogs Lie exists. It’s about finding calm, kind, consistent ways to live alongside our dogs, ways that bring out the best in them and us.

I share my home with Mooby, a seventeen-year-old cat who knows everything (and reminds me of it daily), and two rescue Boxers: Charlie, patient and regal, and Elsie, wiggly and full of beans. They teach me as much as I teach them. Add in my partner, who sometimes “forgets the rules”, and the stream of visitors who always seem to break them, and you’ll understand: I live the very lessons I write about.

This blog isn’t about being perfect. It’s about being real, learning together, and finding joy in calmer, kinder lives with our dogs.

Because sometimes, being a dog is enough, whether that’s sleeping, playing, or just being.
