Christmas. A season of flashing lights, glittering trees, and humans making mistake after mistake. Food left out. Baubles hung low. Visitors barging in. Chaos, wrapped in tinsel.

I’ve seen it all before. Dogs fed scraps under the table, then scolded for begging. Chocolate left within reach, then panic when it disappears. Visitors showering Elsie with fuss the moment they arrive, then wondering why she won’t calm down. Honestly, you couldn’t make it up.

The truth? Dogs don’t need chaos. They need calm. And if the humans stopped for one second and followed Russ’s lead, gesture eating, clear greetings, calm routines, the whole circus would shrink to nothing.

But no. Instead, they wrestle with decorations, panic over puddings, and keep me awake with carols. Fools, all of them.

At least the tree makes a decent scratching post.
